Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems
Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the region, generating powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Residents witnessed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced power outages after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services received 598 calls for help across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Wyndham - over 175 emergency requests
At the height on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
